Jessy is the daughter of Drew , a man who lost all his money on poker. Most of her relatives along with her best friend and boyfriend left her alone since she no longer belonged to the "upper class". As a result , she had to pay her father's debts by working for Jason, the son of her father's best friend. Note that Jason's father committed suicide because of poker and he loaned Drew some money. Luckily , Jason was smart enough to keep his father's company working. Jason blames it all on Jessy and her sick father and treats her in an unbearable way along with his girlfriend Isabelle who hates Jessy for no apparent reason. He believes that if Drew hadn't revealed the truth about him playing poker to Alex , nothing would have happened to Alex in the first place. Will Jason's hate towards Jessy turn into an eternal love ? Will Jessy have the strength to face Isabelle's nonterminating tricks ? Will her love story end up soon ? Will it be the last day of her life ?

"I'm so sorry! This is all my fault! I should have protected you! I'm so sorry Koby" I sobbed loudly. "It's okay. It's not your fault" Koby weakly said. "It is! No one should be exposed to this. Not now, not EVER!" I yelled. "Calm down, mom. I'm okay. He didn't rape me. The stupid son of bitch couldn't even figure out my zipper" she joked as she wiped away her tears. "Why was he here? Was he looking for your uncle? Did he say ANYTHING?" I asked. "He said he was here to collect a debt Uncle Eddie owed, but I know that he's been working every night to pay them back. I'm so confused. Maybe he's been lying about actually going to work at night. Maybe he's gambling behind our backs again. Where the hell is Eddie? I'm going to fucking kill him!" I shouted right as I bolted for the door. If you are looking for your boy meets girl and fall in love story, this is not the novel for you. It is just the opposite. What happens when the lessons she left behind travel back to haunt the life she's established for herself?

Years later, she's still trying to come to terms with the fact that her old life is one she'll never get back. Not her ability to write out a sentence or read a good book. Desperate for change, Hannah takes her former best friend from high school up on an offer to move in with her across the country and start a new life. It's the second scariest thing she's ever gone through, but Hannah knows the only chance of living her life is to give up trying to fix the old one that she'll never truly be able to mend. When she arrives, however, Hannah immediately realizes she's made a terrible mistake. This part of the city doesn't fit someone like her and she's ready to turn around before her bags are even out of the car. Until she meets Meggie's boss. But the brooding bar owner seems to have a soft spot for Hannah and is determined to show her that the choice she made to move here wasn't the wrong one and will do whatever it takes to get her to stay. Her second chance at life is becoming more than she imagined and as Hannah gets to know David, she begins to wonder if that second chance at life comes with a second chance at love.
