"Do you mind?" He said as he peered down pointedly at my knife pressing against his warm neck. I blinked. 

I was taken aback for a moment, he didn't even struggle yet I had him trapped between me and a wall, with a knife against his throat. I was tempted to back down, apologise, blame my reflexes and move on. But something in his dead, hollow eyes emboldened the embers inside of me, daring me to douse my doubts with gasoline and watch them char under violent flames.

Evelyn King always knew there was something wrong with her, but she didn't know how deep-rooted the problem was until it was too late.

An unfortunate outburst of her powers at 11 led her to be heavily surveilled for years by the cryptic organisation, S.H.I.E.L.D. Even under their scrutinizing gaze, she was able to live a fairly normal life, until at 18 the agency was revealed to be infiltrated by Hydra. Soon after it got taken down by the one and only Captain America, leaking her file all over the internet for everyone to see.
