"This is about the tenth time I've seen this, I swear." Called out a voice, who, if you could speak 'smirk', would be just about it.
Mercedes didn't have to look around much to know who it was. She'd seen how a bright, fiery head had suddenly poked out from behind the stony doorway into the Cathedral. Even from the corner of her eyes she could see him grinning with mischief.
"Sylvain," she began speaking lightly, trying to not sound annoyed. "I'm sure you know all about handing off gifts to girls in the Monastery, but this is different."
Sylvain cried out, gasping so loudly it echoed within the Cathedral.
"That stung!" He sighed out as he moved closer to her, his footsteps crunching with the dry leaves spread about the floor.
His sad facade lasted for a minute before he quickly glanced at the flower she held in her hand, grinned from ear-to-ear, and asked, his voice barely holding back his mischief, "So.. do you even know what it is?"
"Well," she pinched it between her fingertips, twirling it to take a look at its dusk blue petals and speckled leaves again.
'Was it the Goddess's Star flower that was light blue? Had it been another flower?' She had visited the Greenhouse from time to time, but not enough to recognize the flowers in there. She didn't think much of it anyway. "Not really." She finally answered.
Sylvain examined the flower, then locked his gaze back onto her.
"Well.. if you're wondering, that's night lavender."
The red head took one last look at it, as if to make sure, then nodded again. "Definitely it. What's funny about it is that it's actually pretty irritating to your skin-"
"Wait, what?" Her fingers froze mid-twirl.
"Er, yeah. Didn't you know?"
"No?"
Sylvain whistled out in reply. "Maybe that's why you should've paid more attention during your shifts in the Greenhouse."
"I didn't get this flower for myself."
Sylvain turned to her, his eyebrows knitted together. "Then..?"
"It.. was Dimitri."
