When their father is being held captive by the FBI, Annabelle and Max's bright world is torn in half and replaced with a dark one.
Annabelle, being the oldest needs to take care of herself and her younger brother now with new challenges lying in front of them, such as running away from foster parents and outsmarting the police. But can she do all of this alone?
Max feels helpless as he watches his older sister give her all to protect the both of them and he wants to help but Annabelle will not hear of such thing. To prove himself to Annabelle by going on his own mental mission to find the reasons behind their mother's death and their father's sudden arrest.
Fate has a plan for everyone, even if they don't like it.

After ten months of being with Carter, she’s found, but the experience has totally changed her. She’s no longer the happy-go-lucky girl that everyone used to know and love; she’s now cold, hard and suffers from night terrors. It appears that Carter broke not only her body, but her spirit too.
