The name 'Sloan' was something that had almost haunted Kenny her entire life. She hated it, she loathed it, and if she could go back in time and yell at her parents for having a second child when they couldn't even raise their first, she would jump at the opportunity with both hands outstretched.

But, she couldn't deny that her cold upbringing had dramatically affected the way she was today. She was cold, and that made her a great surgeon, but it also made her a huge bitch. She couldn't deny it - it was what she was. Her brother said it made her impossible to reason with, Cristina said it made her a surgery god. In any case - Mackenzie Sloan would make herself a surgical Rockstar, and she didn't need anyone holding her back.

But with the merger with Mercy West beginning and staff being let go left right and centre, Kenny lets herself fall into the same cycle that her brother and Derek had just pulled her out of after the deaths of her fiancé and George O'Malley; work, study, sleep, repeat. With surgery the only constant in her life, Kenny knows it's also the only thing that will always be there for her, so now, more than it ever has been, her top priority is staying in employment.

What she didn't account for, was to be on the operating table in a few months, going into v-fib.
