Obedience Winters is an 18 year old girl living with her mother, father, and 4 siblings in a large farmhouse in Salem, Massachusetts. It's the time of the Witch Trials, but witches are the last thing on Obedience's mind. She must choose a man to marry, and the wrong choice could lead to her being accused of witchcraft.

Owen Proctor, son of John and Elizabeth Proctor, is trying his hardest to get his mother out of the custody of the Court. But he's not having any luck. The judges won't listen to his, or John's, pleas for Mercy. Just when they think God has given up on the Proctor family, a miracle happens.
