Ashton Fletcher Irwin, he was demolished and lonely. Basically fathering his little brother, not going to school. Lauren, his sister, always tried to help. His mother was barely around. Things were hard, he was still being picked on and beaten by others.

He puts out the cigarette in the tray and I notice cuts on his wrists. I don't know if I should ask him or not. If I do, I know he'll get defensive, but if I don't I'll be wishing I did. He catches me staring and moves his bracelets to cover them up. "It's nothing, okay?" He gets up and throws the ashes out the window into a couple bushes. I don't know what to do, so I walk over to him and wrap my arms around his back. "Get off me, freak!" He throws my arms off and turns to me. "Ashton, it's okay...I have them, too." Carmen is tired of being depressed, alone, left out, or at least until a new kid moves in across the street. They despise each other until she's forced to move in with him because of her Mother's debt. After spending time, they realize they aren't so different after all...
