Lili Jayward has been thrown around foster homes her entire life, but when she's brought to the little village of Harwood, she's there to stay. She soon grows to trust her adoptive parents, Piper and Avon, but the longer she stays, the more she realises there's something lurking beneath the idyllic surface of the village. Something happened just before the dawn of her appearance, and the shadow of the girl before her seems to follow her round every corner. As Lili slowly intertwines herself with the lives of those surrounding her, and follows every crumb that leads her further into curiosity and mystery, she discovers things that not even those before her ever knew.
