16 year-old Wren Holloway doesn't know this when she first moves with her family to a big Victorian house in the Appalachian mountains. Her parents frequently go on business trips, leaving her home with her brother who loves trying to convince her that the house is haunted, and her two little siblings who have an imaginary friend that may not be imaginary. Soon Wren starts noticing things. Seeing things. Having strange dreams. Noticing strange patterns. She shrugs them off at first, blaming paranoia and mountain folklore.
