Based on the Marvel animated TV Series, "What If", this story follows Catra and Adora in an AU where their roles are switched, and it is Catra who comes across the sword instead on that unforgettable evening in the Whispering Woods.

Has anyone Set It Up? The picture perfect life where everything falls into place and you're never left scrambling for crumbs or purpose? That's the question Catra's been asking herself, for years. With her shallow savings and never-ending shifts, Catra struggles to relish the one piece of joy in her life - fashion. When Adora steps in, perfect life in tow, Catra thinks she's figured her out. A beautiful mermaid is rumored to be found in a 'forbidden' side of the ocean. If you ask about her they'll tell you the same sentence over & over again. "When you find her, you'll never see her again." Bow, Glimmer & Catra are on a hunt for finding & capturing this mysterious mermaid that everyone keeps talking about. Once the trio captures her they are overwhelmed with joy. The deal they made with Prime that will get them enough money to last a lifetime. However, Bow doesn't want the mermaid to be alone so he sends Catra there to keep her company where they bond. A problem soon rises once she has to make the decision of turning her in or keeping her where she belongs, the ocean. Adora called out across the ice, feeling as if she was floating on air. It was a strange sense of euphoria, the wind biting her skin and the vast sea of stars above her. It almost felt surreal. What made it even more unbelievable was the girl in front of her, chuckling as she watched Adora trip over herself slightly as she realized the weight of this experience. -------- A socially isolated girl leaves the comfort of an abusive mother to meet a world of richness, both metaphorically and literally. Though Adora is undoubtedly intelligent, her confinement in Shadow Weaver's home prevents her from fulfilling her 'lifelong pursuit.' After eleven years of carefully monitored studies, Adora leaves to attend the Brightmoon Institution, an academy founded to educate the brightest minds. There she makes friends....as well as enemies.
