I never believed it to be possible. I never thought that one day... I would get to play on the United States Men's National Team. Me... a girl. Playing in a historically male-dominated sport. Amongst the best of the best. Against the wonder creations of God himself. For the country I love so dear. How did we get here? ... Eighteen year-old Melanie Kavitz was a senior at Franklin High School in Seattle, Washington, playing for the all-male football team. Although she had the love and support of her teammates, her parents and her coach, the rest of the city hadn't been so welcoming of her meddling with their sons; an out-of-place princess who should've been on a cheerleading squad instead. The lack of solidarity within the community never bothered Kavitz, or anybody else in her life - especially not when she was clear of being the best in the city. Maybe in all of Washington as well. Her talent was unmatched; she was unstoppable with the ball, and she left all those in her way in the ground. A talent of her stature doesn't come every now and then - it's a rarity. And the coach of the US Men's National Team knew that.
