Avery Locke knows things, things most normal teenagers don't. For starters, she knows that magic is real, and it's nothing like the fairy tales.
After moving to her father's childhood home in the small town of Matheson, Massachusettes, Avery and her siblings begin to notice strange things, whispers in the halls of the old manor home, strangers lurking in the well house, keys hidden in unusual places.
With these keys, the Locke siblings soon learn that they can do anything- have inhuman strength, navigate into someone's head, become ghosts, manipulate plants and much more. But they aren't the only ones who know about these keys. Some would kill to get their hands on them.
Soon, Avery finds herself falling for a boy who, little does she know, threatens her family and the magical keys. A boy who plans to create a key to turn innocents into creatures like him, into demons. A boy with a strange fixation on Avery Locke. A boy who will stop at nothing to make her join him.
