Joshua Anderson, more commonly known as Josh, is a senior attending Lake Forest High School in Chicago. He's the captain of the school's defensive line, sporting the number 71 on the back of his jersey. He's overall a happy kid. . . or so everyone thought. When Josh commits suicide, everyone is left in shock. His brother, girlfriend, and best friend are left in extreme grief, and his classmates feel as if they are missing a part of themselves. Ella White, his 14-year-old next door neighbor, starts questioning everything about her life. Through a series of diary-based entries and short snippets of stories, Ella explains what it feels like to lose a friend. Comforting other people while going through the same thing yourself can be hard, but Ella is determined to help everyone that feels the same way Josh did. Can Ella stay strong when the weight of other people's worries starts to pull her down? This story is based off of true events but has fictional characters. This is the story about a boy at my school, who I have known since I was four. Ella is the character that represents me, but the story is based around Josh. Keep in mind that this story is based of off true events and that not everything that happens in the story is true. Some of it is altered, and some of it is straight from my life.

Broken

'You know, we're the same in that way', he said. 'We're both broken.' Aiden and Jonathan have been best friends for years. While Jonathan struggled with a new physical disability and Aiden fought battles against his own mind, the two helped each other survive, whether that meant managing long days at school, dealing with their parents, or simply getting through life. But after a terrible incident, Aiden is left to face the world alone, with his own thoughts trying to drown him at every waking moment. While the loneliness gives him time to reflect on his past, Aiden questions the choices he has made that resulted in this, knowing that he can never tell anyone what really happened last Friday... *Trigger Warnings: contains mentions and depictions of suicide and self harm. More in depth TW's can be found in the chapter 'Information'.*
