Christmas is a festive time, but for young Clara, it brings heartache. As she watches her sister, Louise, dance with her handsome suitor, she longs for that same simple and beautiful experience. Observing this scene with interest, Uncle Drosselmeyer presents Clara with a beautiful yet strange soldier - a Nutcracker. What Clara doesn't realize at that moment is that by keeping the Nutcracker she will be forced to confront the nightmare that has haunted her since childhood.

Mature themes: self-harm and subtle references to sexual assault.

Ends: December 25

For twelve-year-old Clara Stahlbaum, Christmas has always been special. It's when she has her family's annual Christmas party--and when magic happens. But Clara is maturing, and some of the Christmas charm is wearing off. When her eccentric godfather gifts her a wooden Nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve, her life is turned upside down forever. Clara is whisked into a fairytale adventure in her living room--and her ordinary-seeming nutcracker may have something to do with it. DISCLAIMER: A LITTLE CHRISTMAS MAGIC was originally published in the THE CHRISTMAS COLLECTORS VOLUME 1 anthology.
