Cristine Newman nee Yagami aka Cristine Newman-San is an American private detective working in Kamrocho.

Her mother Lily Newman, a former fashion designer turned part time cleaner in a fancy hotel, met and married a Japanese Attorney named Sosuke Yagami and they decided to fly over to Japan to become a blended family together; raising Cristine, Lily's daughter from her previous failed relationship and his son Takayuki from his first marriage.

Sadly, both parents and Takayuki were killed from someone who Cristine's stepfather defended in court.

Years later, Cristine became a defense attorney only to turn into a private detective when Okubo, the man she was defending, was charged with the murder of his girlfriend Emi.
