Two weeks had passed since my parents had come to the Bahamas and we still knew
absolutely nothing. They even offered up a large reward to anyone who had
information about Miah's disappearance. All that had gotten us was numerous
fortune hunters and a bunch of false leads which wasted everyone's time. My
days were spent scouring the island with Miah's picture, but the outcome was always
the same, no one had seen her.

I tried to call Caleb right after Miah disappeared but I was told by his business partner that he had flown out of the country on an emergency deal and wasn't expected back for the next few weeks. That struck me as odd because he and Miah were supposed to be married the weekend after her disappearance. So I left a message with his partner to have him call as soon as possible. I'm still waiting on Caleb's call.

Never in her wildest dreams, she would have thought that her past trauma would greatly affect her life. Annie... Annie... Those words were like needles to her ears... Like it was a direct call from hell. She couldn't help but break down. Her eyes welled up every time she heard that name. "It's okay." He said. He wanted to make her overcome her trauma, her nightmare. He just wanted to see her being happy and cheerful like she had done... Always. "We have a long path ahead of us." He spoke again. "What path?" Annabella snapped at him. "You're just a mere teenager, aren't you?" The boy's mouth started twitching. "Of course not. Don't underestimate me." "Then tell me... Who are you?" "It's better to know less. The more you know, the more you get into trouble. I don't want that, Big Sister." Ewww... Big sister? Here the story starts... Annabella Zoey Parker was a girl who loved the concept called, 'Single Forever.' She never wanted to get married not because she didn't believe in love or because she got betrayed by her ex-boyfriend. In fact, she didn't even have a boyfriend. It was NOT because she wasn't attractive enough. She was actually a beautiful girl. The thing was, she loved being alone and doing her work peacefully without no one there to meddle in her business. However, her parents especially her mother didn't understand that. She wanted to get her daughter married as soon as possible. "You have to marry soon. You are almost 26. How long do you want to stay single? Until you turn 30s or 40s?!" Annabella took a deep breath before turning towards her mother with a serious face. "Okay, I'll get married." Mrs Parker's eyes lit up instantly. "Really?" She asked with a wide smile on her face. "Yeah, but on one condition. You should wait till next year." Annabella stated. Mrs Parker was confused. "But why?" "Because he's still seventeen. He'll become an adult next year so we can get married right away." Mrs Parker: "..."

"Kassauni, there is more to life than continuous pain and suffering. I am sure you know that, and no one is asking you to go through it alone," She told me. She turned and started walking away. // He was abandoned by his parents. Time and time again they let him down, not realizing that each time it was draining him. He isn't the most sentimental guy, probably one of the most nonchalant and controlling people you've ever met. She was sweet and came from what people would call the perfect family. In a short time, she made him indecisive and question himself. Peeled away every armor he had shielding his insecurities. She broke him but stood by him while he rebuilt himself into a better man.
