These movies were not completely wrong, he was indeed dark and wicked, but his supremacy was limited only to his kingdom and he was not tyrannical.

To his misfortune, Isis seemed to have attracted Hades' attention. He treated her like a doll, a mere puppet for his amusement. And at times, she couldn't tell if he despised her or liked her, or who was torturing whom.All Rights Reserved

Now that I think about it, it probably wasn't the best of ideas but I don't regret it for one minute.
