After one of Lizzie's episodes almost kill Josie, her parents decide that the best thing they can do it's to separete then untill they figure it out how to stop the merge. Decided to find answers about her daughter's problems, Caroline realize that there's only one place in the world where she could find it.
While Josie grow up surrounded by the walls of the Salvatore School, Lizzie spent her childhood learning how to control her emotions and her magic along with Hope. But when her foster sister actived her curse, her family decides that the supernatural boarding school would be perfect to help her to deal with this new phase. Upon returning home, Lizzie finds things very different than when she left.
