will's dad was an abusive alcoholic. since before will could remember and he struggled to find comfort in anybody. he used to confide in his mother, joyce, but as the years of abuse progressed she slowly lost her will power. she was slowly becoming an empty void, no energy, no emotion. he was lost. he had no friends, he was seen as the outcast, that is until he met mike.

mike had the complete opposite upbringing to will. he grew up in a loving family, with a nice house, great friends around him and an amazing support system. he woke up everyday knowing there would be food on the table and smiles to greet him when he came downstairs, but happy lifestyle doesn't make a person happy. mike was unhappy. that is until he met will.
