Catalyst

This is a short story that I wrote for my creative writing class. I had the idea for a group like the Spanish inquisition but targeted towards AI's. In the idea the main character is part of a scientific sect that studies primitive cultures and tries to make sure they continue. Seeing an AI that, by luck, is able to overcome a physical cutoff to sentience because its ship is damaged during an anti-piracy mission is no different to him than the primitive species, comes into conflict with this group. This is the story of why that group exists in the first place.
