When She Lies
Her lips say she's fine, but her eyes... her eyes tell a different story.
I can see it in the way her smile never quite reaches her eyes. In the way she says "I'm okay," even though everything about her says otherwise. She hides behind a mask of false strength, pretending she doesn't need anyone, when I know she's quietly falling apart inside. And it breaks me every time.
I hate seeing her pretend, how she forces a smile to hide the pain that's so obvious to me. I hate that she says she's fine when it's clear she's not. I want to reach out, to hold her, to be the one she can turn to when everything feels too heavy.
I want to be the person who takes away her pain, the one who holds her when she's on the verge of breaking. I want to be the one she trusts with her darkest fears, the one who sees through the lies. I want her to know that it's okay to let go, to stop pretending, to be real with me.
But how do I show her that? How do I make her see? That I'm here for her, that I'll always be, No matter the storm, no matter the sky, I'm waiting for her to stop asking why.
How can I be the one she needs, when she keeps pretending, when she always lies?
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
