"What do you mean she just 'disappeared'? Lloyd, People don't just vanish into thin air, you idiot." Xander says, waving his hands around like a maniac and pointing at the abandoned baby in the crib next to him.

"I told you already, she was here, and when I turned my head, literally for 2 seconds, she was gone." I protest back at him.

I know I wasn't imagining it. Because we checked everywhere for her, and I don't think she'd be able to go very far in 2 seconds...but then again, sometimes she did some really weird stuff.

"Ok, then what do you propose we do with her?" He asks, raising his eyebrows and pointing at the sleeping, red-haired baby in the crib.

"Well....we can't just leave her here. Everly was our best friend, and I don't think leaving her only child alone would be a great idea." I shrug, staring at the child in awe. Well what am I supposed to do? She's so cute.

"Why the hell would she just leave US out of all people, here, in her own house, with HER child, and just...vanish?" He starts pacing and looks at me as if I have an answer.

I shrug and shake my head, not really knowing what the hell to do. I mean, neither of us know how to take care of babies...
"Maybe we could just...phone an orphanage or something?" I suggest.

"No, Everly isn't dead. And we can't just leave this poor kid in a orphanage."

"Uh huh, then what are we supposed to do then?" I sit down against the wall, and sigh in frustration.

But when being a superhero turns out to mainly involve boring work that does not get her the immediate popularity she craves, she shifts gears and becomes a villain. Trigger warning: contains descriptions of physical and emotional abuse, blood and gore. Excerpt from chapter 2: I carefully begin pouring the white powder onto the floor, drawing a large pentagram. I spend a lot of time on the intricate details, making sure everything is perfect. The summoning circle quite small, but it will have to do. I clap my hands twice and hear a soul-crushing scream that appears to pierce my body to its core. Hearing the sound fills my stomach with butterflies and gives me a fuzzy feeling. I haven't heard a single sound in almost a year. Following the scream, a shadowy figure emerges.
