Emma and Elaine Swan grew up together in the foster system with their 'adopted' sister Katy Swan, they have always been together, they are each other's strengths and they're best friends. When Emma and Elaine were in their late teens, they were both arrested and while they were in prison Elaine gave birth to twins, a boy and girl, who she gave up for a closed adoption. 10 years later, Elaine's children went looking for their birth mother, to bring her and her sister to a town in Maine called Storybrooke. But what they were expecting was the third sister, Katy who has secrets that even Emma and Elaine don't know anything about.

Can Emma and Elaine break a curse the Evil Queen cast on everyone in Maine? What is Katy's history she's kept hidden? Will everyone be reunited with their families?

They soon found out they weren't the only ones looking for a way back to Storybrooke. After the twins and their mother return to Storybrooke, they are completely unaware that two enemies had made their way there. One of the strangers is, however, familiar to Athena and she isn't happy about seeing them again. A stranger arrives in town, who knew everyone and hated them all, and wanted to get rid of them. It isn't long until Mr Gold is ready to cash in his favor with the twins, to find his daughter. Mr Gold, the twins, and Henry travel to New York where the twins are reunited with a familiar face, Henry's biological mother. Elias' life becomes more complicated when Henry's mother is engaged to a man, who also wanted to destroy Storybrooke's magic, along with the stranger.
