Am I Barry Pyramid?

Two friends from sixth form start to make their own music and start a vanity record label to release the music under a number of different aliases. The aliases have little or no image / presence but the label has a name, theme and aesthetic based on David Icke's conspiracy theories that the protagonists hear from their neighbour. Although the label labours in obscurity it does seem to attract the attention of some unusual characters and the lines between fact and fiction seem to become blurred. Meanwhile every time one of the pair seems on the verge of a creative breakthrough it seems like the other one can't help sabotage it. When the frustration of faking it gets too much they form a real band but ten years later this new band still hasn't made a record or played a gig.
