The humans. They're long gone. However, their cycle of summiting before plummeting to self-destruction isn't. It lives on in a monster, one that torments the forest and all the animals within. One that's always hungry but never satisfied. One too powerful for the strongest army to defeat, wiping out countless effortlessly. This monster is as old as time. A master of its power, even from the era of humans. The monster swiftly destroys countries, empires, and dynasties.
The animals. Before long, surviving isn't good enough. Eventually they prioritise comfort, just like the monster wanted. Now it once again has the power to destroy. It extorts packs and herds in exchange for living on it's land. As a result, the animals are forced to fight amongst themselves, killing, raiding, ambushing. Utter chaos in an effort to survive. Many even begin resorting to using the very weapons once designed to hunt them. The circle of life bent into anarchy.
The monster. It's invisible with no physical form. Regardless, it can be seen everywhere and in everyone. It lives inside all of us, thriving in the selfish and obsessed. The monster's name is short, only one syllable. Greed. Maybe it's already too late. Greed's already been rooted deep in the animals. Deeper than the trees themselves. Now, the once peaceful animals of Birchwood must make a decision: Run away, join the monster, or fight for their home.
You died.
I mean, it happened quite a bit during your lifetime. It wasn't anything different.
However, instead of you waking up in the barracks again, you found yourself in a very odd place. A place where skin and fur were the same thing.
"I hope I don't die too many times here."

Human in a furry war but with a twist. I expected someone to do something like this but well, looks like I'll have to be the first...to my knowledge)
If you like it, stick around. If you don't, I'm not forcing you to read it.
