Mai is a 14 year old girl with a mother that is addicted to drugs, alcohol, and her no good boyfriend, Chris. Her mother, Tamia, also has depression. She's never in her right mind. She does the unthinkable. She, Tamia, eventually lets Chris manipulate her into abandoning Mai. Mai then has to be entered into foster care. The road ahead is bumpy but by the time she's 18, she's been accepted in multiple colleges. She has a decent life with different foster parents, still hoping her mother will take her back. Tamia is somewhere getting worse, Chris feeling guilt, trying to get better, he eventually leaves Tamia. Tamia goes broke, she needs someone. She finds her daughter and reaches out to her.
