However, their happiness is short-lived when Maven's family intervenes, revealing that the merman had broken a sacred law by falling in love with a mortal. Maven is taken away from Ash, leaving him heartbroken and alone. Ash tries to move on with his life, but he cannot forget Maven. He seeks solace in his friends, but the emptiness he feels only grows stronger. Years go by, and Ash grows old, but he never forgets about Maven. He finds a seashell that reminds him of their love, and he carries it with him always. On his deathbed, he feels Maven's hand reach out to him, and he smiles, knowing that they will be together once again. In the end, the story of Ash and Maven is a tragic one, a tale of forbidden love that could never be.
