⇢ cw: past unethical experimentation, brief blood and gore descriptions (some human and some non-human), you have to accept the premise of a single human empire in space in the future with colonies and a military and not think deeper about that, multiple needle/injection mentions, knife/injury/blood description, main characters are morally gray ;
⇢ extra info: took a lot of obvious inspo for this one from isaac asimov's robot stories, specifically his concept of positronic brains & the three laws of robotics (and if you've read any of his stories, you'll probably be able to see some other places too) ;
