"Em?" Matt said waving a hand in front of my face. "Huh?" "You okay, we were talking and then you stopped," he said looking at me worryingly but I'm still not meeting his eyes, if look up at him he'll know I'm lying. "Yeah I'm fine, I'm sorry" "It's okay, you know you don't really talk about your family that much where are they?" "Ohh look at the lake" I walk towards the bridge that is open giving a full view of the lake to avoid his questions. "Why do you always change the subject when I ask you something personal," he asks once we reach the edge of the lake. "I don't, I just answered your question about the camera" I explain, he was about to say something when he fell onto the lake. "MATT!!!" I scream looking down at the lake he should come up to the surface at any second, but he doesn't so I jump onto the lake to find him. ❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁ Emma Wilkinson was forced to move with her aunt and uncle, Rachel and Michael, along with their daughter Sophia after a terrible accident that ended badly. 83 parts Ongoing Mature

The year is 1899, and siblings Kate, Michael, and Emma have just been thrown out of their latest orphanage by the cruel Mrs. Crumley. The trio haven't seen their parents in over ten years, despite promises of reuniting, and have been left alone in an unforgiving world, not least because they are magic users in a time when hatred towards their kind is on the rise. In search of safety - and, perhaps, help finding their lost family - the three make their way to New York, a place with a strong magical population. It's there they meet the Savages, a gang of fellow magicians, kids who live in an abandoned church and make their living as thieves. The children, their protector, the capable witch Henrietta Burke, and the gang's leader, a fierce young sorcerer named Rafe, welcome the siblings, and within the shelter and camaraderie that they offer, Kate, Michael, and Emma finally find a place to call home. Yet even as they embrace life within the city that never sleeps, there are still challenges awaiting the siblings, from the enduring mystery of their long ago abandonment, to ever-present social inequities bearing down, to a shadowy, powerful force threatening those the children hold dearest, and the whole world.
