A long time ago all magical creatures lived in peace, even after the humans came. They loved each other and lived on the morals of truth and love. 4 main groups existed, each having many types. The first to befriend the humans was the Morphlings, they harnessed the power of an animal and took on the humans shape after peace was made. The second was the Sand Spirits, all of who had helped give humans the fire for their food in exchange for the souls of the lost to young to join them. The third was the Fairies, growing large plants for the humans to live alongside them with. Then the forth being the Merfolk, helping with water and underwater cuisine. They lived in harmony until the humans did what they often do, and decided they needed more. The main 4 groups build an underwater utopia for themselves and locked it off with their conjoined magic, opening it only to humans of pure soul. After that many other magical beings who had stayed for their human friends went into hiding. The humans soon named territory and called the gateway between the magic the Bermuda Triangle, linking it with the disappearances of their greatest people. They sent search missions all of which were pulled under and eventually left it as a mith. The humans under lived in peace with the creatures for many years. But once again, as humans do, they became entitled to the land. Wars fought above a and below until each group took their magic and made separate kingdoms. Without the unity, everyone was trapped below, with no escape the humans stayed and gained small amounts of magic, enough to stay alive. For years the story was buried in both worlds until a girl underneath and her little sister were forced to resurface it. They rediscover the lost magic, but can they put it back together? They are just silly kids right? Right?

Tension between mermaids and humans had always been high, especially after the queen of the mermaids had been killed by humans, regardless that it was an accident. So many years later when Princess Muriel becomes curious about humans, she keeps it to herself. Muriel lives in a castle with her father, sisters, and best friend, Percy. Some of her sisters blame her for their mother's death so Muriel avoids them when at all possible. She gains an interest in humans and trails after their ships. For humans, mermaids are bad luck so she knows that they won't attempt to harm her. The first time Prince Philip steps foot on a fishing boat he witnesses the crew catch a mermaid. Although terrified, he moves forward to help untangle her as no one else is moving. He prays that she'll forgive him. Worry forms when she takes a lock of his hair. Was that a way of marking him? Regardless, he doesn't fight, not wanting to make it worse. Worry increases when she's spotted again. Muriel begins to develop a crush on Prince Philip after he frees her from the net. When her sister's displeasure with her grows worse, Muriel seeks to avoid it. In a desperate attempt to do so she finds herself cave of the sea witch Minerva. Philip's kindness remains prominent in her mind when Minerva offers her a choice to be a human. Hesitantly she agrees, unaware of how different the human world from hers. Philip's bodyguard begins to catch on that Muriel is different and Percy and the king quickly become desperate to find her. My own version of "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen. Used to be called, "Mermaid Wish." (Magic in this world works differently than in my series, 'Tèarmann Chronicles')
