Behind The Invisible Abyss

"How did you end up in a place like this?" He questions as his back is turned away from me and he's leaning on the barred cell door.

"My family and I were forced into slavery when the Capturers came and attacked our village. I'm not scared for myself but for my family. Damien has locked me up and doesn't allow me to see anything or anyone and he-" I turn away from him and silently sob into my hands.

"Shh, don't cry please. You don't need to explain I know what he does to you and it kills me to see you like this when I know I cant do anything about it," he reaches in through the cell door and grabs me shoulder.

He gives me a reassuring squeeze and then lets go and shifts his weight to get up.

"I am leaving this place and I want you to come with me. You can take your family too but I know that I cant stay here any longer. If I do I know I will end up doing something terrible that I certainly will regret later," with that he turns around and slowly looks down the hall to see if anyone is coming and walks down into the dark corridor without another word.
