My mom took my sister and I to our favorite restaurant that night for dinner. It seemed odd because our mom was so quiet. I didn't realize it at the time. But about half way through the meal, mom got the attention of us. "Girls, so when we moved here your father and I were having problems. It seems like our problems have gotten worse." She was trying to explain a complicated matter to a 5 and an 8 year old. "We aren't going back girls. But you will see your father. I'll make sure you still visit him." My sister was utterly upset. I asked 'When are we going to be a family again.' Turns out never.
