Dazed and struggling to stay coherent in his smoking car, Joshua sees a pale, faceless creature appear. His final memory before blacking out includes the sensation of a strong grip wrapped around his leg, pulling him in the direction of burning flames. When he wakes up in a hospital room with his Evangelical father muttering prayers at his bedside, Joshua finds himself forced into a desperate journey to uncover whether what he saw in the foothills was a near-death hallucination, a final warning from God, or a horrific new discovery plaguing the foothills he has called home. With his best friend, Sarah, and his ex-boyfriend, Vincent, by his side, Joshua learns to navigate the anxieties of his mind and the terrors of the outside world as he uncovers a new reality that no one is prepared for.
