A graduate of West Point, Homa was recruited to serve in Afghanistan as an intelligence officer. Under her supervision, the squad of ten soldiers was ambushed. Only Domingo and Homa survived. After the ambush, Homa blamed herself for not acting quickly enough to the intel she received, which resulted in having the men taken by surprise. Ridden with guilt, she decided to leave at the end of her enlistment. But the daemons continue to follow her. After the service, she was recruited to work at his security company. She was commissioned to shadow Nicholas the son of a Russian oligarch, who was dealing in human and drug trafficking. Nicholas and Homa forge a special relationship. Neglected by his parents, Homa takes it upon herself to care for Nicholas's emotional needs. She suspects that he's being sexually abused by his father, and she makes it her business to watch out for him. We see Homa taking the responsibility of taking care of the unresponsive Domingo as she tries to continue living a semi-normal life, all along battling with a severe case of PTSD. To compound her troubles, Nicholas gets abducted. Homa is on a mission to find him. We also see that she's constantly being followed by someone. It is believed that James is either dead or he's still being held by the Taliban. He manages to escape and now she's on a mission to find out what really happened in Afghanistan. He believes that Domingo was involved in drug trafficking while in the service and he also believes that Homa was an accomplice. Eventually, we see that he's the one following Homa and showing up at Domingo's room in the VA hospital. Eventually, all of this is going to get resolved and the truth will come out.
