I'm wearing the wrong crown.

It had been fourteen days.
Fourteen days since she'd run away.
Fourteen days of freedom since she'd left Merilan. Her home.
It wasn't her home though. There was always a hint of something that didn't feel right.
Almost as if something was or someone was watching her.
A dark light that shone over her. And she'd never understood why.
Her family wasn't kind. They didn't love her. They'd always made that clear to her.
Protecting a loved one was not the same as hiding them from life.
She'd been betrayed.
Betrayed by her own family, her own kingdom and then herself.
From then on, she never opened her mouth willingly again.
Never to ask questions, never to speak, only to scream.
She'd been trapped in her home for fifteen years and had never once met anyone who hadn't hurt her.
Everyone knew, yet no-one talked about it.
Power controlled power and in her case, it was just her life.
When she woke up every morning, she was disappointed. It meant she had to face it all over again. More and more pain.
She wanted to die. It was actually impossible. Until she escaped. And took every risk she could, to do so.
And now here she was.
She had made it.
Finally.
