When Rose and Dimitri found each other on a bridge in Siberia, nothing was the same again. Now Dimitri is cured and is no longer Strigoi but what about the raven-haired beauty he gave everything up for? Nobody knows. Rose has been missing since the day he fought her as Strigoi in the woods. Now three years later she reappears and everything is brought into question.
This story picks up a couple of years after Rose fights Dmitri in Blood Promise on the bridge in Siberia while he's Strigoi. That's the LAST point in the books that will be followed in this story. It might incorporate some bits and pieces as the story progresses.

People who have not read the Vampire Academy series may read this book as it includes a summary of what you need to know. This starts after Shadow Kiss. Dimitri leaves but not for Tasha. Rose goes through the biggest challenge of her life, not just heartbreak, something worse than even Dimitri leaving.
