They both live in a dystopic society where nothing seems perfect, nothing is fine. But everyone is just practically SURVIVING

Valerie struggles with a depressing life of drugs , loneliness, anxiety and fear of the unknown.

The matter begins to spiral out of control when she is called in by her school's head of department. Now, she has to keep her head afloat even though her mind is in turmoil.
