Arthur and merlin stumble upon a girl in the woods hanging upside down. seeing that she is alive they take her home and take care of her with the help of others in the castle. in the end, it is not she who needs taking care of it is Camelot and the citizens inside, including Arthur himself.
a dark past clouds her mind but she manages to change the fate of the people of Camelot though she does not avoid all tragedy.
minor spoilers for the show.
also, I absolutely ship Murther so don't come at me I just wanted to explore Arthurs personality and of course practice writing.

I got the inspiration for this story from a similar oneshot on Fanfiction.net by Aeon The Dimensional Girl if the user wishes for me to take this one down I will, however I will point out that I expanded on the concept and definitely made it my own. Originally gonna be a one shot, but ended up being too long for a one shot. Merlin returns to Camelot after Arthur dies and gets banished by Gwen. He goes to sit by the lake of Avalon to wait for Arthur. Eventually Arthur returns. Merlin is not immortal in this version, however he is still extremely powerful. This is about their life together.
