Everyone has an ethnicity, a background. Some have to spit their saliva into small tubes and send them off to find out who they really are. My people do not. 

We are born with a background -  a wolf. Some may be born with a bulgarian wolf, or a belgium wolf. Maybe even a greek wolf. It all just depends on where you are from, and the color of your wolf. 

Me and my friends are walking into a world full of humans. Our parents wary and resilient about the change have finally come to terms with it. After living in the woods our whole life, in caves, dens, etc. We are finally moving into a home. We are going to go to school, make new friends but also make sure to keep our secret safe. Have you ever had your life go crazy and all your emotions come out and people find their true selves? I have. My family wasn't like everyone else. My dad was a trained assassin and my mom was the best CIA agent out there. You would think my life was great but it wasn't. Being a werewolf is hard stuff to handle when you have my life. Also I have these strange tattoos on my body. On my stomach I have an arrow pointing east and I also have a crescent moon on my right shoulder. I normally hide it so people cant see. Its been there since I was born says my parents, so I never asked about it again and saw them as unique birthmarks. But that's how it is for me. That's how it is being Raven Holland Woodz. When the light cleared the animals' eyes, were narrowed into slits, and it was growling. It was a deep menacing sound that sent her stumbling backward, heart wildly beating. It bared fangs the size of her hand alone dipping its head. Had her touch angered the animal into finally attacking her? She kept moving backward in the rain, slipping in her converses as the creature continued growling. It was then she knew she was prepared to run, no matter what happened. Everything changed when they came out of hiding, terror spread across the world as people began to question if our presidents and our global leaders lied to us and weren't from the same race. The Beasts blended in amongst us as if we were the same, except humans didn't have the same predatory instincts and we couldn't change our forms like they could. Soon after we learnt that we weren't the only species people began going missing. Some were unlucky and taken as something that the Beasts called a Mate that one word made fear spread throughout my veins, I would rather sell my soul than have one of them mutts chain me to them. Six months went by before the government, that was un-tainted by this vile race began to take action into their own hands contacting other countries and militaries causing the great war to happen, sending both my parents off to fight for our rights. All werewolves have mates. So what happens when you fall for someone before you're 18... "Hopefully hes my mate" is all Markie can think as she waits for her 18th. This is a short story that takes place in the middle of "Orphan Wolf". It can be read independently but will have spoilers if you intend to read "Orphan Wolf"... I of course would suggest you read it and pause at the point I marked to read "Markie" but the choice is yours. Story excerpt "Come on Ryan leave me alone!" A boy yells. "You started it Francis... come on pup don't start that with me... I don't have time for this! GO HOME!" I felt the command. I see the little 8 year old boy from last night run away crying, one of Ruby's cousins. When I turn the corner I see a boy about 20 and am hit with an overpowering smell something like fresh cut wood and autumn leaves. It is amazing. I see the guy turn towards me and duck behind the house I am standing by before he sees me. Nope! Not him! Not happening! I hear footsteps coming towards me and run. Into the woods I find a pine tree. Perfect! Pine trees are great hiding places. The branches hide you visually and the smell masks your scent. I climb up as quickly as I can and watch the guy approaching. He circles my tree looking around but eventually gives up and goes back towards the houses. "Mate!" My wolf happily purs. "Not him!" I respond. "Denial." She says. "Refusal." I counter and she growls at me. "You will NOT reject him!" She orders. "He is a bully!" "He is mate!" "He commanded that kid when he could have just talked to him! He is a bully with no patience!" "He is an Alpha!" She purrs with pride at his rank. I don't care! "I don't want him!" "The one you want isn't mate. He isn't yours. He isn't interested... I want mate!" "No." I block her out and climb down the tree.

I was just a pure human, I lived in the city with my mother. We had money to help take care of ourselves since my father died. My mother was lonely at times until she met this gorgeous guy. He lived in the country with land and property, mother says he's loaded. Her sounding like a good digger. I was lonely after they met. Later on I found out, that he was gonna be my step brother since my mother was dating his father and he had asked her to marry him within months of knowing each other. I didn't like it but after moving in with him, I found out what they were. They wasn't human they were werewolves. And on top of that, my so called step brother was an alpha of their pack and I was his mate. But to top it off, my bff that I was dating is the enemy of my step brother, he was a vampire and hid it well from me. I forced myself to break up with him after he started acting weird. Life was so simple. So much more carefree and just generally free to do as you please and not have to worry about every little thing. Key word being 'was'. The second you receive your wolf you know your in trouble. It's when the rolling hills and valleys turn into mountains and canyons taunting you to enter. But you can help it cause to get to the other side and pass the finish line you gotta climb those mountains and fall deep into the canyons. But of course teenagers even like obstacles especially when they are still tying to fun themselves. Some may be more outspoken then others and some may be the the tiniest bit too mature but they have to learn one way or another. But what happens when a pack of wolves flirting at first start being the bigger picture and that being this free wasn't going to last forever. Feelings come and go just like people but the day you turn of age that also changes. Mates is a hard word to swallow and acceptance becomes a challenge but not as challenging as sticking together as things are thrown their way, distractions are made and a few too many lies but too deep. Two Faces, One Wolf will be the only clue.
