Genesis Castellan was twenty-one when the apocalypse happened. She joined the military as soon as she graduated at age 18, becoming a soldier. While in the field, she was shot twice; once in the side, and once on the shoulder. Because the injuries weren't life threatened, she was medically discharged until she was healed.

But never was able to go back because of the apocalypse. She was packing her truck to get ready to go back to the army when Shane Walsh, her older brother's best friend, pulled up in front of her house with Lori and Carl Grimes.

Now, the four were together, and they met up with some fellow survivors, who they call their friends.
