Five years ago, an incident happened in a hunters village called Ratikstead, located in the frozen Northern Realm. A young boy named Rex Masons was born with an immense amount of magical power in a family with little to none. Unable to control his powers, he loses his mother in the incident. Shortly after the incident, his father leaves him with just his older sister to care for him. As both get older, his sister has to take the next step in her life. When she leaves the village, Rex finds that his world is about to be turned upside down. He will find allies, foes and is faced with a choice that will dictate the rest of his life and that of others around him. Little does he know, that his fight is only just getting started.

10,000 years in the future, humanity has long since inhabited a region of space simply known as the "Habitable Zone of the Milky Way," or simply the "Habitable Zone." Many advancements have been made, though many are irrelevant to the billions - or perhaps more - of souls scattered across space. Everything operates under the silent, vague, but present scrutiny of the gods, with thaumaturgic talents dominating many human cultures in some capacity. Churches reign over the post-Altarum territories a century after the Silence. The World, at least as far as many within the Habitable Zone are concerned, is a cold, thoughtless plane of existence. It is within a single vessel, known as the CSS Groundskeeper, do things begin to influence the "Things To Be," as labeled by followers of the pantheon. Within this ship, two individuals will face the beginning of what is to be unimaginable horrors within an unforgiving universe, both with the same goal: do not succumb to the darkness. Trepidation: Act I is the first story in what is to be a much longer novel detailing the story of two individuals in the cold universe. Act I may contain disturbing content for some readers. The main character will be panicked, scared and a ball of trauma and anxiety, she will eventually start to gain trust and come out of her shell, but that doesn't mean she is cured just taking that step forward. She will have set backs as we all do. This story may cause some triggers, Mentions of child abuse, mental and physical abuse, sexual misconduct, drug and alcohol use, sexual attraction, child predators, slavery and grooming. They are mentioned in regards to the past tense. This is meant to show being able to free yourself from your trauma while still living with rhe issues it caused.
