The Athena's Daughters 2 Kickstarter project is full of awesome art and fiction. Just this week, backers unlocked my short story (mine!) "Call Me Claw" wherein a terrible mage (and worse swordsman) accepts a job fighting armed bandits. It seems like a great deal until the dragon shows up.

In JOS I set the rogue and con-artist Harric against a foil of warriors in a land threatened by magic and civil war. Whenever possible I turn familiar tropes on their heads: instead of a handsome young Lancelot, I cast a broken-down ex-champion addicted to pain-killing herbs; instead of a dashing Squire Brian, the old knight reluctantly takes an ambitious young woman as squire. Similarly, I re-imagine the standard medieval milieu by infusing aspects of two of my favorite historical periods, Elizabethan England, and The American Frontier. Both eras boast a kind of nationalistic arrogance that borders on hubris, and a magnificent spirit of resourcefulness and re-invention that is fun to play with. A Tale of Fortunes Cross
This is the story of Karaan a young magic-less merchant, in a world filled with magic and magical creatures. It was party inspired by "Spice and Wolf" But is by no means a "fan-fic". Karaans adventures takes him throughout a wonderful, enormous continent filled with wonderful creatures. It's also the story of a young girl who lived a sheltered life, the daughter of a famous general, until she was sold into slavery in-order to pay off her fathers gambling debt. These two travel together and each experience the world in their own ways. The story is written from a third person perspective. This is the first full length novel type story I've written. (Well full length is a little exagerative, after a little research it's actually about the length of two and a half to three full novels.) A warning the beginning is ok (grammar wise) but after about the first chapter my grammar sucks, I never refined the rest and have no immediate plans to. This story was written for myself I'm just sharing with anyone that might be interested. If bad grammar offends you or you do not like it then feel free to skip this one. This is one of my more family appropriate stories but I will still say, be warned. The story does contain controversial material, and content that might not be suitable for all audiences, read at your own discretion. Most importantly, enjoy. This world is set in the past. In a time where nothing was impossible, Where dragons fly above our heads. We learned to ride them, and become friends with them. We created artifacts that make our dragos small and then big again when we need them. That's what sets our world into two sides. A side where dragon riders lived and flew on them. And a side where they hated dragons, and the one that rode them. Even though we managed to work in peace, there was no war between us. Only fights that were under control and rules. In the Arena in the city called Aeloria. A city where there were both sides. They mostly ignored each other. But it was hard to get in this city. Mostly it was the people that lived there. And a few outsiders, but that was either the sellers, chosen group of warriors or dragon riders, and lastly the best fighters of the academies that went into the arena. To prove who is stronger and the winner will receive high quality weapons or any other things of their choice. One day the darkness came and war started. Not between us, but with a kingdom that was across the sea. And this battle or war changed everything we knew. I'm Ardyn, I'm on the side where we ride on dragons. And this story can be easy but also hard to understand. But I will still share it. But first we have to start from the beginning. What will this story bring? Will we be able to see the outcome? The Tale of Dragons and Dungeons
The result of me and a couple of my friends playing Dungeons and Dragons. After a while, we just decided to make it into a story. I wrote basically all of it, and my friends made requests. Most of the time I tried to keep it to one linear story. I planned for a couple plot twist that never actually happened as I went on. Meep, my first story submitted to here. It also happens to rip off a lot of things from other stories. If you can notice them, you are the most epic person ever and you deserve ice cream.Complete
Fate of Dragons
Dragons and their riders protect Arethia's borders and keep peace within the land, along with the mages who work alongside them. Nobody knows why, but only women can bond with dragons to be their riders. But now, the dragons have been kidnapped by a mage who wants to change that, and the remaining dragon riders have to find out where he's taken them. Arethia's safety is now left to the mages, and Karume mages using the forbidden bound magic begin creeping into Arethia while the search for the missing dragons is stalled. Can Tesa and her friends bring the dragons back to Arethia before it's too late?
