She looked for a return address, but found that there was none. Stranger yet, she found that it had no stamp in the upper right corner. She found herself looking up at the forested land that lay beyond her mailbox. She saw no sign of life in the snow blanketed woods, yet she suddenly got the feeling that something was watching her. She shivered, and she found herself wondering whether it was from the cold, or something else. Tessa had all but forgotten the incident that had taken her mother away from her. The one that sent her to the father that didn't care about her and the stepmother who was even worse than him. It had left her motherless, friendless, and hopeless. She had managed to push it from her mind, to ignore it. It was just a freak accident. She was just a witness. But suddenly that incident is coming back to her, in the form of a teenage boy named Oliver. Along with this boy comes secrets and truths that will change Tessa's life completely as she realizes that her life is not as normal, let alone safe, as she had thought it was.
