(Prequel to Severus Snape: The Half-Blood Prince)

Before the era of wizarding wars, Tom Riddle was an orphaned boy with magical abilities who grew up surrounded by Muggles.

Riddle absolutely hated Muggles because they reminded him of his Muggle father who deserted him.

The only positive thing about his childhood was Sophie, a fellow orphan, and Slytherin. Growing up with Sophie eased many of Tom's hindrances and he finally found someone he could trust completely. He was infatuated with her to the point where he realized:

Impossibly close to donning the title of the most promising and unfathomably gifted protégé Hogwarts has ever laid eyes upon, the wizarding world would be foolish to ignore such an accomplished scholar. Procuring a seat at the grand table alongside every and all great wizards and witches preceding him, his name would maintain a revered longevity surpassing history itself-Tom Riddle is second to none, none but you. He stands as a salutatorian before you; his clever nature and wisdom beyond his years, extensive honors, accolades that sing nothing but his praises, and noble laurels vanish into a vapid nothingness compared to you. It was less noticeable when the both of you were much younger. Any semblance of academic rivalry was diminished by the fact you were far too sick and weak to even entertain him with faux competition (even if the winner was obvious). Years have passed since then, and the two of you have pursued your own respective aspirations that could not be further apart, all the while just barely preserving your cherished bond. And as Tom worked hard to curate his perfect, idealistic image, and brilliance of unreachable heights, you remained as sick and weak as you once were. And yet, you still best him. Tom cannot escape your shadow, and nothing has changed since your shared youth with the troubled boy. He can continue to excuse it with the fact that you are older than him, one year difference and one year ahead (if only for the sake of his bruised ego), but the truth of the matter is: you've always been better, haven't you? Before He Was Voldemort (A Tom Riddle Fanfiction) by MeganWritesBooks

Have you ever wondered what life at Hogwarts was really like for Tom Riddle, known by his darker moniker Lord Voldemort? How did he manage juggling life as a student while simultaneously plotting his immortality and tyrannical reign over the Wizarding world? Corinne Carrow, a shy Slytherin witch with a famous family lineage, was certainly not your typical cunning Slytherin. She was the outcast of her very reputable Pureblood family. Throughout her years at Hogwarts, Corinne wasn't fond of socializing much among her peers. That is, until she reached her 6th year, when fate led her to reestablish a friendship with the notorious and tragically handsome Tom Riddle. A complete opposite of Corinne, Tom was an intimidating and brooding character with expertise in the art of persuasion and manipulation. Though for some strange reason, Corinne found herself quite intrigued by him. While everyone else feared Tom and viewed him as potentially dangerous, Corinne overlooked this and saw straight through his dark ways. You may think you know the tragic story of the troubled orphan boy who would eventually become the most feared and immensely powerful Dark wizard in the world. But what you don't know is that the young Dark Lord happened to have one particular companion; one he may have even loved. So if Tom Riddle inadvertently defied his own loveless nature despite all impossibility, what made him not change his ways for Corinne? What made him instead enter a much darker route in life that led him to become the Dark Lord? This is the alternate story of Tom Marvolo Riddle, before he was Voldemort.

"Years ago, I met a boy who made all the wrong choices." As orphans, you and Tom Riddle have more in common than having no parental figures in your lives. One day, it turns out that you, too, can use magic, and it changes everything. For better or for worse? Your adventure starts off in Hogwarts, Britain's very own school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where you are to spend the next seven years of your life. You grow and learn, but not always together, and not the same things. During the course of the years, he starts to get more and more involved with the Dark Arts... And you start to realize that there is something very wrong with your friend. As he gets older, he becomes more manipulative, possessive and twisted. He starts to use his powers and his looks to control those around him-including you. Eventually, Tom's true nature is revealed, but by then, it's too late for you. You fall under his spell, completely under his control, and there is nothing anyone could do to save you from the darkness that awaits. *~*~* ♡ A slowburn/sociopathic/dark Tom Marvolo Riddle x F!reader book that centers around both reader's perspective and Tom's fall into madness/rise in influence and power. The 'effects' of Tom's influence become apperent later in the book, so the emotional conflicts/thoughts start later too. ♡ Cross posted on ao3. ♡ I don't claim the Harry Potter characters in any way, the only thing I claim is the plot, some OC's and this, like my other books, are not made to make money off of them. ♡ I'm firmly against using AI for bookwriting as it takes away from the whole creativity standpoint. So you don't have to worry about that in any of my books. *~*~* Highest ranked: #1 in manipulation #1 in sociopath
