Jeremy grew up in a rather abusive, gruesome life that was drenched in sorrow and disappointment. On the other hand, Mike grew up in a very family-oriented household filled with success. Jeremy being 19 years old, still living with his father after his mothers' tragic death, knew that he needed to get out of that house before he got hurt any further than he already was. What he needed was someone or somewhere to go. Jeremy had known that at this time of his life, he needed a job. Mike being a legal adult, 21 years of age, knew that in order to survive on his own, he would have to find a job so that he could stop depending on his family for help. Although his family never minded helping him, Mike knew that he had to do this for himself. On December 10th, 1987 a newspaper article read that “Local pizzeria needs new night guards willing to work for a little above minimum wage. The company will pay for lodging and transportation for any two who show up on December 11th. More information about position as night guard will be disclosed to anyone who shows up for job applications during a formal meeting with the head of the company” Jeremy read the article with such enthusiasm that he knew he had to get this job. He needed to get out of the environment that constantly tormented him. Mike however read the article in a less-enthusiastic manner. He knew that he needed a job as soon as possible so he told himself that it could be for the better, even if better jobs were to come at a later time. So, with high hopes and empty pockets, both Jeremy and Mike set out to the location of the pizzeria to apply for the job not knowing that they will soon be depending on each other to keep each other alive. They will soon experience many near-death situations that will hopefully end with a happily ever after.
