Behind the Hearth is, initially, a submission for my school’s creative writing competition, in which we were required to write an essay not exceeding 500 words on the topic “Playing with Fire”. The story will be quite rushed and unexplained due to the word limit, sorry about that. I may continue to unravel the story in more lengthy chapters, but for now I have (reluctantly) uploaded my submission, word for embarrassing word, as some have requested.

I tear up just a little as he speaks, I don't know the last time I cried happy tears. I bring my hands up to cup his cheeks, resting my forehead against his. "No matter how much I push, I don't mean it. Please don't give up on me." My words seem to relieve him in some way as I feel his shoulders relax. "Even when I'm gone, I'll be by your side, forever." He brings his hand, sticking his pinky out. "pinky promise."I wrap mine around his, placing a kiss on his lips. Warning before you read!! This is my first book! Set in a live action version of the HTTYD fandom, this is a gritty tale of war, vengeance, dragons, assassins, love, tragedy, humor, a touch of magic, and above all, adventure!
