In the kingdom of Ipuinia, the status of Aristricata relies on one thing: whether you have elemental blood or you do not. The ability to control one of the four elements means power, and power is status. Have a stronger elemental ability, earn the favor of the queen and find yourself royalty by status. 

At least, that's what happened for Ciara Roisin's older brother Fionn Roisin. From the rags of a village devastated by poverty to the riches of being the Heir Prince's royal guard. He brought royal status to the name Roisin, allowing Ciara Roisin to rise to status of nobility. Unfortunately for her, becoming nobility due to her brother's rank will be the least of her problems under the Queen's watchful glare.
