The historical fiction focuses on the personhood of Delano Middleton. Delano was one of the four people killed during the Orangeburg Massacre. (Henry Smith, Samuel Hammond and the unborn child of Louise Cawley (during an earlier protest). While that event ended his life, it did not encompass his life. Running After Delano focuses on Delano Middleton through the lens of his 10 year old nephew Alonzo Middleton. (who is now the father of the book's author) Alonzo runs behind Delano to observe his relationships, his work ethic, sports, hopes and aspirations. In the process, Alonzo has many misadventures as a fun loving but at times mischievous youngster. This book was cultivated through the interviews of over twenty men and women that lived in the community during that period of time. The author hopes to use this historical fiction to connect the dots between the historic civil rights movement and the contemporary youth culture. This is a book about civil rights, sports, and mentoring. Fifteen percent of the net proceeds of this book will go to Orangeburg, South Carolina based charities.

This book follows an African American boy as he wonders over into the white community something not usually done. Considering that during the year 1830's New York was severely divided into pocket communities helping keep the oppressed oppressed, since they would live in cramped apartment buildings with other families while the rich lived in manors. While the immigrants worked in factories the rich turned towards investments. Matthews~ (African American) 6 years old and on the street. I watch the other children get handed bread. I watch them get taken into the homes made for children like us. My clothes are tattered and torn. I go to bed underneath boxes or in garbage cans to stay warm. Annabelle~ 20 years old, the daughter of a noble getting ready for another social event. I walk with the other women who are ahead of me. They are giggling and talking about the recent engagements, the recent social gatherings, the recent investments that potential suitors have made, yet I am simply not interested. I would rather get a job. I want to get down and dirty. Daniel~ 21 years old, a nobleman that owns quite a few acres of land for farming. Father finally died. Leaving the estate to me. I will now be able to rent out the land instead of having father put outrageous buying prices on the damn property. No one can afford them in today's day in age. Not to mention that once the property is divided up into the sectors with their own little cottages we could have our own little self-sufficient economy if I play my cards right. Together through thick and thin since senior infants, Tadgh and Lilibeth are inseparable. What happens when the truth comes out and all of their heavily packed trauma and secrets come out? Will their friendship survive? This is a slow burn. I think I'm going to make another book after this one, and they might not even get together in this book. If they do there will be NO SMUT. Tadgh and Lilibeth are 6-12 in this book, and i don't feel comfortable writing about that stuff when their minors, that being said, keep in mind that for this book Lilibeth and Tadgh are TWELVE. This book is based in 1999-2005, and they aren't 18 until 2011, so womp womp. Most of the storyline belongs entirely to Chloe Walsh, apart from Lilibeth's backstory. All characters apart from Lilibeth, Annalise, Adam and Lilibeth's parents also belong to Chloe Walsh. This whole story is fictional, and any resemblance to people in real life, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.
