TDOR is Transgender Day of Remembrance, 20th November every year. It allows us to pay our respects to all our trans brothers, sisters and siblings that we have lost in the past year, whether that be to a hate crime or by their own hand. Every year the list of names is far too long. Every year, there are far too many kids on the list.
This year I decided to start a small selection of poetry for TDOR. The day hits me really hard every year, and poetry has helped me maintain my mental wellbing with other things, so I thought it might help me with this. I'm sharing it here to raise awareness of the day and the struggles of the trans community, especially at this time of year.
A word of warning, most of these poems will address death, loss, hate crimes, transphobia, homophobia and/or su*c*de. They are heavy poems. Please only read if you feel you're able to.
