Pulling my phone out, I checked the Caller ID. It was a number not saved in my phone but it was also a Minnesota number, someone from back home.
Cautiously, I answered the phone. "Hello?" The phone was silent on the other end as I heard shuffling in the background but no answer. "Hello?" My voice more stern and annoyed.
Why fucking call someone if you're not going to speak?
"Nixon Pierce?" I hate when people use my first fucking name, it's so cringy. "This is Detective Tia Fletcher, with Rochester P.D. Do you remember me? I was the detective on your case." She questioned me but I had already remembered her from the name. "I was the detective who visited the hospital around the time your twins were born..." Detective Fletcher trailed off.
I rolled my eyes, annoyed that this lady pops up at all the wrong times. "Yeah, I remember who you are." My voice was monotone. "Why are you calling me? I'm on my honeymoon."
"I'm sorry to interrupt." The detective apologized. "I just wanted to let you know that we caught him." She clued me in, almost excited.
